Sie Douglas-Fish
24 x 36"
Fortitude, by artist Sie Douglas-Fish, is a celebration of strength, identity, and collective pride. Inspired by the dual meaning of “pride”—as both a symbol of queer history and a community of lions—this piece honors the courage it takes to be authentic and the power found in unity.
A trio of lionesses, poised and forward-facing, embody shared purpose. Their forms are woven with hues drawn from LGBTQ+ flags, subtly layered to reflect the richness and diversity of queer experience. Grounded in the natural world, Fortitude affirms what Douglas-Fish expresses clearly: queerness is not an exception to nature, but an essential part of it.
